Thought for the week, 16 July 2017

By John Brocklesby

“I speak to them in parables because they look without seeing; listen without hearing or understanding.” Thus spoke Jesus Christ. (Matthew 13:13).

This was prophesied by Isaiah: ‘I will open my mouth in parables. I will utter things kept secret since the world began.’

The parable of the Sower is a classic.

The sower scatters the seed of God’s truth in four separate locations, when it can only effectively take root and thrive in good soil.

From the footpath, onto stony ground, through the thistles to the good earth is a long hard journey that many fail to make.

I hope and pray that I at least understand that much.
